Experience STAVELEY

THE LOUNGE

Guests are invited to enjoy the stylishly designed guest lounge. A space to relax, unwind and socialise.

There’s nothing better than a roaring fire. The STAVELEY has a fireplace like no other – a double open fireplace that promises ambience, live fire entertainment and will keep you toasty warm.

The wraparound verandah and deck create a wonderful flow from this large open plan living area out to the private three acres of beautiful gardens.

THE BARN

We just happen to have the most wonderful facility located right in the middle of the grounds.

The BARN is a 240sqm (12mx24m) events shed that has hosted many memorable events including weddings, concerts and dinners.

This superbly appointed shed has opening sides on all sides, with a capacity to cater for up to 150 people. It has been superbly located within the established grounds to take in a direct view of Mt. Somers. It really is something.

THE CHAPEL

The Staveley Presbyterian Church is located right next door to The STAVELEY Boutique Lodge.

The chapel dates back to pre-1900 and is nothing but picture perfect. Mt. Somers forms a dramatic backdrop to this little gem while a quaint stone wall and manicured grounds welcome you.

With Mt. Somers and the foothills of Mid Canterbury as your backdrop, it may just be the perfect setting for your country wedding, child’s christening or family reunion.

THE STAVELEY STORE

Wander through the grounds of The STAVELEY to the Staveley Store – an iconic cafe & local farm shop that showcases local producers and quality products.

Established in 1876, the Staveley Store is nestled under the Mid-Canterbury foothills in the heart of Staveley.

Experience the home baking, delicious rustic menu and coffee that will delight the coffee aficionado. An absolute gem.

STAVELEY ATTRACTIONS

The Staveley Ice Rink was first established in 1951 and is one of the few natural ice skating locations remaining in New Zealand. Nestled in an idyllic bush setting, the rink welcomes locals and visitors alike. Warm your toes by the open fire, skate to the music and warm your tummy with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Due to climate change and warmer winters, the rink hasn’t managed to freeze completely for the past few years, however a refrigeration infrastructure project is well underway which will guarantee a future three month opening season.

OPUKE THERMAL POOLS & SPA

A short drive away and you can immerse yourself in the luxurious Opuke Pool and Spa Retreat on the outskirts of Methven. Choose between the adult-exclusive Tranquility Pools with swim up bar and exclusive pool side canape and beverage service or the more family friendly Discovery Pools to search out your inner child. Or perhaps you prefer the privacy of your very own Solar Tub.

There is also the Opuke Day Spa offering wellness and body treatments and a full cafe and dining experience.

MT HUTT SKI AREA & BIKE PARK

Right on the doorstep sits Mt Hutt Ski Area with wide open runs, monster snowfalls and spectacular views. Voted the New Zeland’s best ski resort seven years running…
And when the snow disappears for the summer, on the lower foothills is the Mt Hutt Forest Bike Park with a 40km+ trail network, from a family friendly XC loop to double black diamond descents with some nice climbs linking it all together.

Truly impressive options for all seasons.

METHVEN VILLAGE

Methven is renowned for its relaxed lifestyle, warm hospitality and abundance of outdoor activities on your doorstep. In winter it is very popular with nine ski fields close by including the magnificent Mt Hutt Ski Area.

At other times of the year, activities such as jet boating, hot air ballooning, scenic flights and mountain biking are popular. The town offers an excellent choice of eating places and bars, some great shops, an art gallery and even a boutique movie theatre.

I was asked if anything could be changed or improved, I said yes . . . my address from Wellington to Staveley.
